When should I consider upgrading my electrical panel?
You should consider an electrical panel upgrade if:
- You still have an old fuse box.
- Your breakers trip frequently.
- Your lights flicker often.
- Your panel is over 20-25 years old.
- You're planning major renovations or adding large appliances (like an EV charger or hot tub).
- Your panel looks rusted or damaged.
An inspection can determine if an upgrade is necessary for safety and capacity.
Why are GFCI outlets important?
Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) outlets are crucial safety devices. They monitor electrical current and quickly shut off power if they detect an imbalance (a ground fault), which could occur if electricity flows through water or a person. They significantly reduce the risk of electrical shock and are required by code in areas near water, such as kitchens, bathrooms, garages, basements, and outdoor locations.
How much does an EV charger installation cost?
The cost varies depending on several factors, including the type of charger, the distance from your electrical panel to the charging location, the current capacity of your electrical panel (an upgrade might be needed), and local permit requirements. We provide specific quotes after assessing your home's setup. Contact us for an estimate.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, R&R Wiring Contractors Inc. is a fully licensed electrical contractor in the state of Ohio (License #EL.27480) and carries all required insurance coverage. We adhere strictly to the National Electrical Code (NEC).
